The reserves are a part of the defense forces and have served the nation well since their founding. Reserves are present in all the branches of the armed forces whether it is the Army, US Navy, US Air Force or the US Marines.
They work in conjunction with the regular Army, Navy and Air force to provide for the safety and the security of the nations citizens and its borders. At any point of time the reserves can be called upon to work in their active units.
Both men and women can enlist in the reserves. The Army has its own army reserve. To enlist in the army reserve one has to be 17 years and above and have good moral character in addition to having a good physique. They can be registered aliens or US citizens. Time and gain both the Army and those in the Army reserves have been called upon to serve in may war time and peace time missions such as Noble Eagle, Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom etc. They have served in missions in both the US as well as on foreign soil.
The US Navy has always been guarding our shores from internal as well as external aggression. The Men and Women serving aboard the US Navy are a very determined and a dedicated lot. They have sailed the high seas to protect the sovereignty of our country as well as helped many others protect theirs. US Navy ships are present across the globe and help in protecting the interests of the people. They help the US Air Force and the Army to land troops, materials and weapons where they need them the most. Currently according to the Naval release there are about 4294 reserves who are currently deployed in the Navy (as of 28th Feb).
The US Air Force motto is Integrity- Service – Excellence. With this motto, they fly the azure skies protecting our skies. Not to be outdone are the US Marines and the US Coast Guard. They too are actively involved in protecting the life and the property of our citizens. The mission of the US Coast Guard is to protect the economic interests of the country along the coast or in the international maritime waters.
